My background and career has been in Education, Employment and Health regulation in London for over 40 years.
I have worked in the Department of Education on as Senior Policy Advisor for English literacy, language and numeracy skills and in the Department of Employment working on front line public services in London to support disadvantaged and vulnerable families including those with disabilities in education, training and employment. Most recently my experience has been in Health regulation and Human Resources at the Health and Care Profession Council which I also find a very interesting area of work in terms of protecting the public.
I have been awarded MBE (Member of British Empire) by the Queen at Buckingham palace for public and voluntary service to children, young people and families at the Department of Education.
I have been the volunteer co-ordinator as a volunteer for Gokuldham of Nar since 2009, this is a role I enjoy very much. I believe that volunteers bring with them a wide range of skills, experience, knowledge, talent and enthusiasm to support our School and Hostel. They bring with them new teaching and learning ideas, creativity, innovation, fun and a can do positive attitude from different countries around the world. The benefits of these relationships have a long lasting and positive impact on our students, teaching staff, community and the volunteers involved benefit immensely once they return to their home countries.
Volunteers come to Gokuldham of Nar from a diverse range of professions; from public, corporate, voluntary, charitable organisations as well as the teaching profession. This I believe gives students the confidence to interact globally and practice their English speaking skills and prepares our students for an International platform.
I have been to Gokuldham Nar on several occasions and continue to volunteer for the Charity remotely from London as a Volunteer Co-ordinator. My hobbies include travel, volunteering and spending time with my grandchildren.
